Pragmatically, it is impossible to deny the existence of peak oil, because logically any time there is a finite resource that is being used too quickly, it will eventually run out. Regardless of whether or not you are talking to an Exxon Mobile executive, a radical environmentalist, or a Saudi royal family representative, on a basic level they have to acknowledge this fact.
At this point there is little disagreement that the world's oil supply will peak, but people waste time and energy arguing over when it will happen. If it's inevitable that the world will run out of oil, eventually, whether it is 5 years or 100 years from now, it serves everyone's interest to be prepared.
