Nigeria, the 8th largest oil producer in the world, has numerous problems. 70% of its population lives on $1 a day, life expectancy is 47, and its government is one of the most corrupt in the world. Oil production is being threatened by armed gangs extorting companies through sabotage and kidnapping.
